Easter Egg "Hunt"

Lucas and Megan got to go to the local Easter Egg "Hunt" this morning. When 10am hits, the egg-seekers are allowed inside the painted circle to grab as many eggs as they can. Lucas and Megan were more interested in looking around than in gathering eggs, but they did manage to gather 14 eggs. They also enjoyed a visit with the Easter bunny (which Daddy compared to the type of costume you would see during a robbery) and a little climbing around.

Pizza Night

Tonight we had some fun making our own pizzas. Mmmm .... it tastes better when you have just the toppings you like.

Megan's Play Date

Megan headed to Monkey Joe's again ... this time to hang out with some of her friends, Tyler and Abby. Unfortunately, Lucas was sick and couldn't join us, but Megan had a great time. She did a lot better than last time and was happy to play on her own without needing to be held all the time. This was most likely due to the fact that there were a lot fewer people there since we got there when they opened.

The future's so bright, I gotta wear shades

What better way to spend the ride home from school than doing a little reading?

Wisconsin Dells

We took a 3-day weekend and headed North to the Wisconsin Dells with the Kluesners and Bormets. We met the Kluesners just before dinner on Friday and enjoyed a nice dinner we made in the in-room kitchen. Once full, we headed for the pool (don't worry, it was probably an hour by the time we started swimming) and enjoyed a ride on the lazy river. The kids also got some splash time in the kiddie area before we headed back to the room to meet up with the Bormets.

After breakfast on Saturday, we hit the wave pool and another kiddie section. Some of the adults even got to ride tubes down some slides. After a busy morning, it was back to the room for pizza and nap time. Somehow we managed to not get back to the water until after an early dinner, but we had a blast once again enjoying the lazy river and kiddie splash area. By this time, Megan and Lucas were much more willing to run around and go down some of the small slides than the first trip to the area on Friday.

I believe everyone had a blast and the kids definitely went to bed tired. It was a great weekend with friends ... both for adults and kids. :)

Haircuts

When asked if they wanted haircuts, both kids said no. Lucas wanted Mommy to do it again and I think Megan was a little intimidated by the place. A little Sesame Street later (we went to Cartoon Cuts where the kids get to watch TV during the haircut) and the kids were good to go.

Megan's mullet is gone, but so are some of her curls. :( Ironically, after bath, her hair seemed even curlier. We'll see what time brings (it usually straightens as it dries). Fortunately, time will also bring back her bangs which became a little too short when Megan wouldn't cooperate (it's hard to cut the hair of a child who won't stop cuddling) ... better too short than lopsided.

Some Random Tidbits

A little craftiness with some Easter egg dye colored pasta. ...

A silly Megan ...

Lucas with the model helicopter he made (his first homework assignment!) ...

A couple of cute kids ...

Megan's first "real" pigtails (all of her hair will reach ... if she'd just stop moving while Mommy was trying to put them in) ...

A Little Monkey Business

We finally made it to Monkey Joe's to let the kids expend some energy. Megan wasn't so sure about it ... she loved the slides, but didn't like the unstable walking and bouncing so much. Lucas loved it and had a blast climbing up the ladders to head down the next big slide. Alicia was also hard to keep up with as she loved jumping and climbing on everything as well. The only slide Lucas didn't like so much was a HUGE one ... he had no issues climbing up the 20ish foot ladder/steps, but didn't want to come down. Fortunately, Drew had gone up with him and Alicia and slid down with him.Lucas was happy when he got to the bottom, but he didn't ask to do that one again.

My only issue with the place ... you are hot upon arriving, before the kids even start playing ... which means the kids all left as sweaty little messes. We fixed that issue with a big group bath before bedtime (though, 3 in a tub is getting a bit tight). Oh, and sorry about the blurry kids in the pictures, but it's hard to get a good shot when they are going that fast. :)
