Happy 3rd Birthday Alicia!

Lucas and Megan helped Alicia celebrate her birthday today. The big kids (aka, not Megan) started with a little gymnastics followed by pizza. Then everyone headed back to the Bormet house so we could celebrate some more.

Megan's 10-Month Stats

Height: 27 1/2 inches

Weight: 21 lbs 5 oz


Megan has had lots of developments recently ... she's on a roll! She now has four teeth, loves to stand up at things, and has even started cruising a little.

She also likes to find where Mommy, Daddy or Lucas just hid ...

Whoops ... No Diaper

As Mommy was enjoying a nice lasagna dinner (thanks Barb!) with Lucas and Megan, she realized ... "Oh, no ... I don't remember putting a diaper on Lucas before we left daycare!". Lucas's teachers had been letting Lucas go commando enough that Mommy got the hint and bought him some underwear. He usually makes it through the day, but accidents do happen. As accidents do happen and Lucas has had his new carseat for only a couple of weeks, Mommy insisted he wear a diaper home.

Well, things sometimes get a little crazy when trying to convince Lucas he wants to leave and Mommy forgot to do a diaper check until dinner. Nope - no diaper. After dinner Lucas went potty like a big boy and then again before his bath. Awesome ... all day long (first diaper change is around 9am and that is usually when Lucas looses his diaper) with no accidents (not even during nap!)!!! And he didn't even need to be told not to pee on the girls. :)

A Trip to the Zoo

We finally made it to the zoo today and Lucas loved it! His favorite saying of the day was "Let's go find more animals". Impressively enough, Lucas refused to ride in the stroller and walked around the zoo for about 3 hours with a small break for snack. Awesome!


Lucas loved the zebra (which we walked by twice, so he thought he saw two of them), giraffes, lion, bears, rhinoceros, and anything else that was big. He wasn't too impressed with the turtles he saw, but he loved pointing out the birds (you know, geese, robins, etc). He also liked watching the sea lions under the water and kept asking where they went when they swam out of sight.

One of Lucas's favorite things was the huge dinosaur, though he was also a little scared of it. Brookfield Zoo is currently hosting the world’s largest animatronic dinosaur ... a replica of the Ruyang Yellow River dinosaur, which measures nearly 60 feet long, 22 feet wide, and 30 feet high! He was hooked up to a motion sensor, so he pretty much roared and moved his head and tail constantly. We'll have to visit the rest of the dinosaurs before they leave in the fall.



Megan also seemed to enjoy the zoo ... mostly chillin' in her stroller while daddy pushed her around.







And, as Daddy put it, here's a "Where's Lucas?" picture. He's on Mommy's shoulders ... see if you can find him. We were watching two bears fight over a piece of PVC pipe.

A Surprise Visit from Grandma

Well, as much of a surprise as it can be when traveling over 300 miles. Grandma Krollmann called last Tuesday and said she wanted to come visit for the weekend. She arrived on Thursday and even extended her visit until Tuesday morning. Lucas and Megan loved hanging out with Grandma!

The Super Stallion

Today was Marine Day where Mommy works (in celebration of National Marine Week), and Motorola celebrated with the help of the help of a Super Stallion, the largest helicopter in the United States Military.


Mommy stopped over at daycare to pick up Lucas to take him to where the helicopter was going to land. Lucas kept asking for the helicopter to fly over "again", but it landed on campus after circling a few times. We got to see a close-up of the HUGE helicopter and several other Marine vehicles. As you can see from the photos (just look at Carl & Lucas by the tire of the truck), it looks like the Marines brought the super-sized version of their vehicles.

Ma-Ma

Yea!! It wasn't just Mommy's wishful thinking because Daddy heard it, too. And Megan said it again as Mommy was getting her ready for bed ... "Ma-ma". :) Awesome.

In addition to crawling, Megan has been trying to pull herself up on a lot of stuff. Sometimes she even gets daring and lets go ... too bad she doesn't know how to stand quite yet.



We got Megan's 9-month pictures taken on Sunday. Here are the raw versions of the poses we picked. We forgot to try to get a crawling pose until she was in the dress, which made it a little difficult for her to maneuver, so oops, but they turned out well.

No Peeing on the Girls

Whatever it takes to potty train, right?

Well, I am usually not informed that Lucas needs new diapers at school until they are already out. Today was one such case, so Lucas's teacher, Mr. Jeff, just put on what he had available. Whether it was for humor's sake or because it was all they had, Lucas got to wear a pull-up girly diaper with princesses on it. Mr. Jeff told him not to pee on the girls. That was at lunch time. Apparently, he made it through the end of the day (and actually until bathtime) without peeing on the girls ... he used the potty every time.

In other Lucas news, he has had two new teeth break through in the last week.
