Megan on the Move

She sits, she rolls, she claps, she crawls ... she's the amazing Megan!


About a week and a half ago, Megan started moving into a sitting position from laying down. She also loves to do push-ups ... she gets on all fours, and then pretty much stands up with her hands (ok, sometimes just one hand) still on the ground. I'm sure there are some official-sounding yoga names for the positions she comes up with, but since Mommy does't know anyone who knows those names, we'll just have to call it fun stretching.




In her progression to crawling, she likes to get up on all fours and then slide her hands forward, then start over again. Last night she officially crawled! Not too far, but it still counts! Her motivation was one of Lucas's drawings that he brought home from school.

She also has learned to clap, which is really cute, because she usually just hits one hand (which remains stationary) with the other.

Whew ... that's a lot of new stuff. I guess she wanted to get those in before she hit her 9-month birthday today!

"I'm NOT Sick!"

Lucas tried to convince us that he wasn't sick, but his fever told us otherwise. I guess he really wanted to go to school. After a few days of on-and-off fevers, he woke up this morning with some yucky discharge coming out of his ear. Mommy tried to clean it off, but Lucas got really upset and said it hurt. One doctor's visit later and an ear infection was confirmed. Too bad having no adenoids/tonsils is supposed to reduce the likelihood of getting an ear infection (Lucas hadn't had one in over a year). At least he should be happier now that the antibiotics are kicking in.

Pump It Up

Lucas went to "Pump It Up" today to celebrate one of his classmate's 3rd birthday. At first he didn't even want Mommy to put him down, but he eventually warmed up and went through some of the obstacle courses and down the big slide. He had a lot of fun, but I think he's a little too small to enjoy some of the obstacles. Drew was kind enough to join the kids in a few of them and help them through. Megan even managed to go down one of the slides with a little help from Heather. :)

Going to the Park

Today Mommy took Lucas and Megan to hang out with Carl and Alicia (and Carl's parents). Megan went for a ride in the stroller while we tried to convince the other three that they wanted to ride in the wagon together. After some rearranging, Lucas and Alicia opted for the wagon and Carl walked alongside it.

Everyone enjoyed the park, and Megan even got to go for her first swing ride and first trip down the slide (on Mommy's lap).

Easter with Family

We had a great weekend with family. We started Friday by driving to Cincinnati and, as per our luck with drives lately, got stuck in some construction. We were a little late for dinner, but we still got some left over pizza and were able to hang out with the Suttmann side of the family. We missed seeing Erin and Eli, but had a good time with everyone else.


We spent lunch on Saturday visiting with Aunt Barb and then headed to Grandma Krollmann's house in time for naps. After naps, Lucas, Mommy, Kayla, and Uncle Mike colored some Easter Eggs. It was quite fun ... and there were some good experiments. One of Mommy's favorite comments was Lucas saying "It's not working!" when Mommy was writing on the egg with the wax crayon. Lucas tested what happens when you place a pretty orange egg in pretty blue ... yucky brown. That'll teach Mommy and Grandma to keep more uncolored eggs in front of Lucas. Out of 2 dozen eggs, we (okay, mostly Lucas) managed to only break 8 ... not too bad. :) One was okay, though, because Lucas had put somewhere around 20 stickers on it, so it was holding together nicely. Saturday was topped of with some tasty Skyline for dinner.


Sunday was shared between a lunch time meal with the Krollmann side of the family and dinner with the Suttmann side of the family. Lucas and Megan enjoyed their Easter baskets and hanging out with all the grandparents and cousins and aunts and uncles again.

Easter Egg "Hunt"

Mommy took Lucas and Megan to the Annual Lake Zurich Easter Egg Hunt this morning. As you can see from the picture, it wasn't much of a "Hunt", but Lucas still had fun. Since Megan was napping in her stroller, we couldn't venture too far into the circle, but Lucas did manage to grab 5 of the eggs ... all with chocolate in them ... mmm.


After the hunt, we stopped over to see the Easter Bunny. After the photo op, the Easter Bunny let Lucas pick one more egg. When Mommy asked Lucas to say thank you to the Easter Bunny, Lucas replied "Thank You, Rabbit".

Mommy just got the access information to the infant pics at daycare. Humorously enough, it's the same access info they had for when Lucas was there (since it's the same teacher and all). Here are some pictures of Megan at school.

Megan's 8-Month Stats

Height: 26 7/8 inches

Weight: 20 lbs 0 oz


Wow, 20 lbs on the nose ... quite impressive. And for those of you wondering why Megan didn't grow any taller over the last two months, allow me to describe to you the measuring process ... Megan lays down on the examining table. The nurse pulls out her measuring tool ... a wood slide with hinges on either end. Mommy is in charge of the head; the nurse is in charge of the feet. The goal is for both people to get the baby to lay straight and stretch out and hold the hinges at right angles ... all while the baby wiggles to be free. The nurse actually took a second measurement, but Megan was annoyed enough at that time that we couldn't stretch her and she actually got shorter compared to last time. Very precise stuff.
