Today we went to our neighborhood's 2nd annual Harvest Fest, though this was the first year our street was invited. Lucas had a blast watching the older kids play street hockey. Lucas and Jim build a cool toddler scarecrow (everyone was jealous because our scarecrow was faster to stuff than a regular size one). Lucas also got to walk through a firetruck and an ambulance! Once again, Megan spent the festivities sleeping ... but she did get lots of compliments during her rest!

Happy 2nd Birthday Kaylee!
As the kiddie birthday season comes to an end, Kaylee celebrated her 2nd birthday on Saturday. The kids had a blast playing in Kaylee's play room and loved the Blues Clues cake.
Lucas and Megan find their thumbs so tasty, Mommy and Daddy decided to give it a try, too! Toward the end of the evening, it looks like Lucas needed to take a breather to regain his energy.

The Young and the Restless
How about an update on sleeping arrangements? Lucas has been doing much better with his big-boy bed! Granted, he still wakes up sometimes during the night, but at least we (mostly Mommy, per request) don't have to sit in there with him waiting for him to drift back to sleep ... we just lay him back down (though this sometimes takes several attempts). And when he goes down at bedtime, he goes to sleep on his own without yelling for us first. This gives us anywhere from 20-60 minutes extra each evening ... fantastic!
Megan is also doing much better. She no longer needs to be held in order to sleep. She'll sleep anywhere from 3-5 hours on her own at night. When this coincides with Lucas sleeping through the night, Mommy and Daddy are very happy! Though, the kiddos do still like to play tag team every once and a while and keep Mommy and Daddy up most of the night. Ah, well ... at least we've made progress.
It also looks like we have another thumb-sucker on our hands. While this may be harder to break than a pacifier, it is nice in the middle of the night when Megan can sooth herself. Here's the proof:

Going to Goebbert's
Today we visited Goebbert's Farm. Lucas had a blast! He got to see some of his friends, Elmo and Ernie, as well as lots of "exotic" animals. Lucas liked the Macaws, Lemurs (3 different kinds!), Sheep, Camels, Giraffe and many of the other animals. We even got to watch the pig races (I believe Arnold SchwarzenHOGGER won ... those announcers have way too much time on their hands)! I think Lucas's favorite part might have been running through the pumpking patch. Megan, however, wasn't as impressed and slept through the entire trip.

Megan's 2-Month Stats

Megan is apparently choosing the same get-big-quick path that Lucas took. :) She did great today at her 2-month checkup ... up until she got her first shots. She didn't like those so much, but recovered quickly.
Height: 22 1/2 inches
Weight: 12 lbs 5 oz

Happy 2nd Birthday Carl!
Continuing with the birthday season, Carl celebrated his 2nd birthday over the weekend. All the kiddies had fun and loved the Sesame Street cake. We also determined that 2 is the optimal age for learning to blow into party favors. It took a bit, but all the kids (well, all the 2-year-old kids) were able to figure it out. Unfortunately, the cardboard showed a good amount of abuse since they also like to chew on the favors. Below are some pics the day with Carl, Alicia, Lucas, Kaylee, Nick and Megan. We even got Carl's grandma playing Ring Around the Rosie with the kids.

Celebrating Chad's Birthday
Last week, Lucas got to help feed Megan for the first time.
Over the weekend, we got to go to Chad's Birthday party. The kids had a great time coloring, racing across the room, and relaxing in their pajamas. The video shows what happens when you get a bunch of kids hopped up on sugar (aka cake). They thought it was hilarios when Joel would slam a book shut (boom!) and would all run across the room.
Just a cute picture of Megan
(aren't they all?).
And for those who didn't notice, I've updated the last several posts with pictures ... it's nice to have my laptop in working condition again.

Lucas's Transition
Last week, Lucas transitioned from his toddler room at daycare to his new "Two's" room. The transition didn't go as well as we had hoped considering he already knew and liked Mr. Jeff (one of his new teachers) and most of his classmates. Most of his classmates were in his old toddler room, and Alicia is in his new room, too. This week he is full-time in his new room. Fortunately, things seem to be going better ... at least for today. While the pictures we see from his day show him happy and participating in activities, today was the first day he didn't cry/scream when Jim dropped him off. Hopefully he is getting used to his new room and enjoying being around all of his old friends again. The picture shows Lucas with his toddler teachers, Ms. Grace and Ms. Katrina.
And so you don't think we've forgotten about Megan (since the latest posts are mostly about Lucas) ... she is doing great. Not sleeping at night yet, but she at least stays in her bed for a little more at a time without getting mad. She is also less of a bobble-head now.
Computer update: looks like Dell will be providing a new video card and hard drive.
